AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL VOTES ON BUDGET TODAY
The Austin City Council will hold a special meeting today to finalize next year's $2.8 billion city budget. The proposed budget from City Manager Marc Ott includes a plan to raise a transportation fee to generate more money for road repairs. The budget also calls for closing some city libraries one day each week and keeping dozens of vacant positions within the city un-filled as ways to cut costs. The Council has set aside three days for final budget deliberations, but Council Members predict the discussions likely will not take all three days.
