The man who came to the house Wednesday evening appeared angry, so Heather and Jeffrey Monroe's oldest son took his siblings to the backyard of their great-grandfather's place to play with their two dogs.  When the shooting started, the 14-year-old ran to a window and peered inside.  The boy watched as the man stood above his mother and shot her.

What the boy did next, police say, possibly saved the lives of all three children. He hustled his 10-year-old brother and 8-year-old sister out of the yard and down the street, to where he could see a party going on at a neighbor's house.
